'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the deflection before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an incredible comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
